My trading career started with prop trading at a Merrill Lynch subsidiary, where I cut my teeth trying to scalp intraday moves back in 2002. The leverage was intoxicating, the markets were ruthless, and the lessons came expensive.
But here's what they don't teach you in any certification: the most painful losses don't come from being wrong: they come from being right too early or too late. The market would flash signals that screamed "everyone is on one side of this trade," but I couldn't quantify it. I couldn't see the full picture.
